Out in the backyard having some fun build a TP with a salvaged Lightening Mcqueen shower curtain and the boys decided to go down the slide a few times. Little did we know that some wasps decided to make their home under the slide and didn't like all that jiggling going on when dax went down the slide, it followed him right down the slide and stung him on the cheek, Dace was still up on top of the slide. Dad quickly pulled him down and got rid of the bees while mom nurtured a stinging cheek. Dace was sympathy crying. By the way this in dax doing his best indian face.
the sting........Dax would only come back outside if dad let him hold the spray killer stuff. Don't worry the lid was on. seriously the poor kid already doesn't want to go outside because of thunder and lightening and the scary clouds that might have thunder and lightening, and now we have this.

We found ourselves bored and stuck inside when the thunder storms moved in this afternoon and the boys have been hooked on toy story 2. So in honor of Buzz we built our own pair of wings!

So yesterday we went outside and were playing with sidewalk chalk and Dax suggested that I draw a picture of the whole family, so I did and then he wanted me to write the names, so I did. (of course he gave me pink to color in "because you are a girl and pink is for girls") Then as he was examining my family artistry (amazing, I know) he said as he handed me the green chalk, "Oh, but we forgot to draw uncle spencer and Uncle craig, don't forget uncle craig has funny hair" needless to say hes been talking about you non stop last night and this morning, so we are sending you a message in hopes of getting one in return.(fyi-your still in his prayers at night to - the stay together as a family and uncle craig and uncle spencer) hope this makes you smile he loves you so much - come visit us more!

I have had a lot of projects for my dad to help me with (or rather, for him to do) - Lets face it, less than 2 weeks to delivery - I'm really no help! The room for the baby was one of them, I love the way it turned out, I'll have to repost when the furniture is back in its place and organized. light blue with a chair rail and a chocolate color on bottom. It was a bold move but I love the way it turned out!

I decided with the new baby coming in a short 5 weeks that I wanted to transition Dace into a big boy bed rather than after the baby gets here. He is very attatched to the crib and that made me a little nervous. But here he is Sleeping in a big boy bed now and not just that but on a bunkbed with his big bro right on top! No problems getting this to work, surprisingly. Its just a little funny to have him walking out by himself when he is done with naptime or waking up in the morning. He's funny about it to. They grow up so quick.

I laugh at this picture when I see it because Hutch just got through shoveling ALOT of snow and Dax wanted to build a fort using the brilliant snow in a bucket technique (taught by dad of course) but there was to much snow that Dax decided the best place to build the fort would be in the newly cleared out area generously donated by dad! (we are supposed to keep the sidewalks in front of our houses cleared of snow and stuff in our neighborhood)

The kids were really excited to hear that Uncle Craig was coming to stay at our house for thanksgiving and PLAY!!!!! They both just adore him, it is really cute. Dace cried last night when he had to go to bed because I had to separate him from uncle craig, and Dax got up this morning saying "Is uncle craig still sleepin down stairs? Does he know its daytime yet?"(meaning wake up time) I do have to say that I have tried to convince him atleast to shave the beard or better yet shave the beard and the head, he would shock people! But I think both will be sticking around. We love him anyways, maybe he is inspired by being in the land of zion? I do see some shocking similarities in his choice of long hair and beard?????

Its hard to believe that he is 4 already! time passes by so quick! We just had a small family party and the one friend he kept asking about (Arora) I think we have a small crush, it cute. Presents came from Gma and Gpa Sample and Harper which were very much appreciated! Dax loved them all! Elefun the game where they are trying to catch the butterflies that are blowing out was a hit for all ages.

Halloween was so much fun, we got to go to Gma and Gpa Harpers 3 ward trunk or treat which was great! Dax decided at the last minute to be a ninja (we left his ninja hat a school though) and Dace was a dragon, he would look down and see his dragon feet as a reminder and then say "rawwwwwwwwr" he did a good job! Dax's fav part was Gma's new tiny tiny puppies, if you can believe it they are already 2 weeks old in the pics and have already doubled in size. and the last two pictures was another of Dax's favs, waiting for the trick or treaters to come! He didn't want to leave the door so he would sit on the stairs waiting for a knock and periodically running to peek out the window to see if he could see more coming. They were very fun and we managed not to get sick on an over dose of chocolate or gummies!

And this morning we woke up to about two inches of snow! The kids are loving it, the wierd thing is its supposed to be back in the 70's next week. I have mixed feelings, I love fall so much and the leaves changing the perfect weather for walks and park playing with a light sweater, layers and crisp air in the early mornings, but the snow made it feel like the holiday season was here and I wanted to crack open that can of newly purchased hot chocolate (surgar free of course, however not carb free:@( and I just love the hoilday season, not sure if I'm ready yet for it. Recently we have had a little battle with the stomach flu........not so fun! The other day I had noticed that I was getting quite a bit done while not being bothered or interupted, Dax was quietly racing his cars on the table(So Dace couldn't reach them) and Dace I was sure was in his room rummaging through the toys in the closet, he tends to play really by himself for a short amount of time...........it had been a long amount of time I hadn't seen or heard him(long for Dace, like 10mins) I looked in his room, not there, looked in Dax's room, not there, my room and this is what I found.........shredded bits of toilet paper EVERYWHERE! He was so content and focused it was actually tempting to leave him there so I could get some other things done around the house.

The bike trailer, and when I say our obsession that is a true statement, the boys absolutely love this and I knew they would I just didn't want to pay a lot of money for one............and I didn't I found this one at a garage sale and gave a kid $10 for it - best deal ever. Its used but in great condition. Thats one of the great things I love about where we live is that there are tons of extra wide biking paths all over the place here, it makes it easy to get out and have some fun, we've been biking to new parks all over the place up here.

The derby went well as you can see we took 2nd place, which I was very surprised considering we are a little rough around the edges in the derby world. we had a fast little car! Dax loved every minute of it and we of course loved every second of watching him love it. As you can see Dace was overdue for a nap so he was petting his eyelashes during the race. The best part was winning the ribbon and trophy!

Mom is lucky enough to be in cub scouts and so it is that time of year that the pine wood derby happens! Dax is of course really excited that he gets to help the construction of a cool dude race car! Almost immediately he feverishly searched through all of his cars trying to decide which one we could make it look like "so it be the fastest one" The green ramone from the infamous cars movie (which we know nothing about in this house) won the competition. (He wasn't looking throught the bucket with lightening or the other race cars.) His heart was set! So we went to the store where he picked out the color of green he would like, came started carving(dads job) dax did some sanding though and alot of painting----and the rest is history. The race is schedule for Sat morning - wish us luck!!

Dax helped me do some yard work and planting some flowers and pulling some weeds and we discovered there are worms that live in this dirt!! He would hold them right up close so he could see them really well and then say in a small high voice "He's so cuuuute" affectionately. Then of course the worm is trying to scoot away and he says "Oh, mom I think he's trying to go to his home" and he set the worm in the dirt and walk away and then goes back to check on him again only to find that the worm has gotten bigger! "I need to hold this one mommy!" Worms, are they really cute?

Daxton jumped off the couch at his friends house and landed wrong somehow and it ended up in a hairline fracture. He was so brave as we went to the doctor and then to do xrays and actually getting the cast on, the doctors were impressed. we have it on for 3 more weeks. I have a feeling it will be a long 3 weeks! Eagle Mtn Ranches does an event each year for all of the homeowners here and its great because they have them sections off into age groups and the parents were not aloud out with the kids.(Iguess in years past they have had problems with parents malling over kids and being ruthless, sad huh) Anyways it was great and Dax even won a prize that we had to go collect- a big bottle of bubbles! Uncle Hollan is getting married to a very cute and sweet girl named Chlesea. Uncle Hollan really fell in love with her but so did one other boy in the family, Daxton. They came to visit for the weekend and Dax woke up this morning and came in to my room pouting saying"but I just need Chelsea" I said they had to go back to school but they will be back soon. To which he replied "but I just need her mom" and I quickly changed the subject to Grandpa Sample is coming today on the plane and I need your help getting ready!! To my luck it worked!

In case you didn't know I am a den mother for scouts and this month is "litter to glitter" all about recycling. Dax loves coming to cub scouts with me and he is loving this month cause we've been saving all of our containers and scraps to do some really fun recycled craft projects. I never relized how much I throw away that we could actually use for a project of some sort(which new or recycled will end up in the garbage can sooner or later.) So it makes me a feel a little bit better about using some material that I've already paid for and didn't think about using in such a creative way with no extra money spent. This is a picture of Daxtons "bottle being" a crazy alien made with all recycle things or things in my junk drawer. we had a lot of fun doing it! The website that is one of my new favorites for kid and family fun is www.family.go.com and if you type in recycled crafts it will bring up hundreds of project from recycle things. Secretly one of my favorite was using a cereal box and turning it in to a little purse/bag and mod podging some paper scraps on it. Hutch doesn't believe in man bags. Any ways there is my two cents about recycling fun.

And this is a picture of Baby Daces first shiner. He is in that stage where he is learning to walk and takes a good crash every once in a while. Dax says "Is my baby OK?, He's a tough little guy"

Its really hard because Daxtons bday is in Nov and Christmas dec. So when we get him really cool presents like a super cool dragon bike, but there is 5 feet of snow outside and the wind chill is in the negative, its kind of a super cool present squasher. so we have been practicing and practicing inside in the basement and finally for a few days in a row we have had awesome weather and it was bike ridin' time!!! Dace too. they both loved it and were consentrating very hard on getting them to go. Daces "bike" was handed down from Dax and I actually forgot we had it until we went in to the garage for this event. Thanks to uncle Spencer and auntie Diana for a perfect gift 3 years ago, it just keeps on giving!

Grandma Harper got to come with us and that made it fun! I took a picture so you could see the outcome of my most recent project. Really by the picture you would think it could be the quilt or something big, but its not. I made the star clips holding up the quilt and I really like the way they turned out and they were very easy and inexpensive to do. And could be done with anything really, I have some diggy ones that I am going to make for Daxton but instead of quilt holders they will be for him to display his art work! dax wanted some muscle pictures without his shirt on.

I decided it was time to take some pics of the boys. It hard to do when its so cold outside so inside it is. They actually had fun doing it and Dace is 10mos old and Dax is 3years old. I was really good at taking pics of Dax, I need to hop on the bandwagon with Dace, I just haven't been as good about it. Hope you like!!

I would like to introduce you to my new favorite cookbook! Until recently Dax has been wonderful about eating some veggies and liking them, but he has all of a sudden decided that he "does not yike them, Mom!" Jessica Seinfeld has come up with a creative way to blend in the veggies and fruit into to normal food that a 3 year old or any kid would eat. Just the other day Dax wanted a PB&J sandwich and I decided to put Jessicas work to the test, on one side I spread the peanut butter and on top of that I spread pureed yams and then jam on the other peice of toast closed it up and anxiously awaited the results of my test! To my surprise he gobbled it down and asked for a second one. Little did he know that his PB&J came with a side of Yams. She has a lot of creative ways to blend butternut squash into quesadillas, pink pancakes(with beets), carrot cake muffin with carrots and cauliflower, and Dax really likes the Chocolate peanut butter dip for apples with carrots in it. It sounds like it wouldn't taste that good but you really can't tell. She goes through the how to prep and get things ready and really some clever ideas about how to add to your own personal recipes. Love it, Love it!!!

A New Year Already!

They say the older you get the quicker time goes by, well I feel like I must be 80! where does the time go. It feels like yesterday that I didn't have any kids and we were poor college students, but that was like 5 years ago - what!? And I have not one, but two kids which somedays still seems wierd, but I wouldn't change it for anything. This has all come about because today I recieved from Dax after church his certificate of graduation from primary along with this picture. what? so big...

Let Christmas begin!

Snow filled fun right before christmas, building forts in the backyard with Grandpa Sample. Licking the snow off the your gloves is the best part of building a fort in the snow. Ummm tastes like water mom!

Daxton has discovered that bribing Santa and his deers with yummy treats may get you some extra presents, Santa drinks mountain Dew????? Where was mom on that one?

Christmas morning was so much fun, Daxton was the kindest boy of his age that I have ever known. He was so concerned about everyone getting to open some presents and helped Dace open his presents and made sure to stuff them as close as possible to Dace so that Dace would be able to inspect them especially well! There was never a mine, no thats mine. Just some glowing "oh I sink he really yikes this one mommy" As dax would help dace discover the buttons. I just know that Dax was who he is before he got here to our family and that he is a very special boy who will do a lot of good in this world, because how do you teach a 3 year old those things! Any normal 3 year old you can't, and thats why I know its who he was before he got here.

GG Harper was here in town for Christmas and we really enjoyed having her around. She is such a sweet Lady and Dax and Dace adore her. Yes if you look close at the picture of Dace with the wrapping paper, he has successfully bitten off a piece of paper and is eating it. Yummy!

Daxton is joyfully helping uncle Craig unwrap one of his presents. Dace is watching.

Mommy feeding Dace some breakfast before the festivities began (this picture is out of order, sorry) one thing mommy did learn this year is, if you sleep with your makeup on the pictures of the next morning won't be nearly as terrible and everyone wont have to wait for the fun to begin until mom looks ok for pictures.

Each year on Christmas eve we have gone over to Grandma and Grandpa Harpers home and the grandkids act out the nativity. Daxton was one of the wisemen who followed the star(hes holding the star they followed.) It always turns out so cute and in the picture of the kids it is Holland(hollys) Daxton, Ethan(Heaths), Packer(Hollys).

Dear Santa:

As a family tradition Hutch and I decided we wanted to have the kids start writing letters to santa. So that is something we did the other night as a family. (you can see dax with his letter) His letter was as followed:

Dear Santa,

I like a motorcycle bike for Christmas. I like a fast fast race car too. Please Santa Clause can I get a motorcycle bike? I have been a good boy.

We told Daxton that Dace needed some help with his letter and what should Dace get for Christmas, Daxton replied: He has been naughty boy, Santa bring you no presents. We said, No presents for Dace? Dax said Yes, no presents, he has been naughty and I be a good boy, he will bring me presents. Very very funny!

We started off the morning by waking up to a room full of balloons, he loved it. So did Dace, surprisingly none of them have managed to pop yet?!

It was a lightening Mcqueen party of course and so the cake had to be mcqueen peeling out! Dax wanted to know if he could eat the car too. I said you can try!

Uncle craig was our very own balloon specialist! The kids were amazed that he could make all types of things like cool hats and sharp swords. Dace was especially pleased with his hat uncle criag took more time on it than anyone elses.

Uncle craig made these cool sharp sword and hats only to be taken hostage and beaten in radsome for the cake. As you can see from left to right we have Lucy Bromley, Cannon Brown, Noah Burnham, and Birthday boy Dax.

Dax and his favorite friends (Lucy wasn't here yet) and his attempt at blowing out the candles, he did manage to blow one of them out without spiting on the cake. All in all it went very well and the kids had a good time. They get big so quick, where does the time go. I remember as a kid thinking the adults were crazy, saying christmas was coming to quick or I was getting bigger so fast. It was taking forever if you asked me! Ahhhhhh...... Now I understand. Funny though I am certainly sleeping less, must just have more to do than just play huh.

Daces very first haircut

It's hard to see them, but in the before picture you can see he has some long hairs that we could twist and he would look like alfalfa. So cute.... but daddy didn't think so. So here is his before and after pictures of his very first haircut at 7 1/2 months old. There still wasn't much hair to cut off but it is very cute. No more long hairs. Dax had his first haircut at 4 months and he had gobs of hair to cut off. I love my boys!
